Movie trailers decide the fate of a movie, even before it is released. They influence our movie choices. If you like a trailer, you have high hopes and expectations from the movie. Irrespective of how the movie turns out to be, some trailers are highly successful in doing their job, i.e. enticing the audience and making them buy tickets. Looking back at the past year, some trailers were so good you couldn’t help but watch them again.

Did you notice a drastic change in expressions when Chiron says “Yeah”? Then comes a series of flashbacks from his life (paired with stunning instrumental music). You get to watch slices of the movie through different shots and you start to connect the puzzle. Barry Jenkins‘s Moonlight is about the struggles of a poor, gay and black boy. The trailer quickly shows you how he grew up dealing with an addicted mom, internal struggles, insecurities and bullies. This simple trailer instantly strikes a chord with you and that’s what is so amazing about it.
That’s an electric, funny and crazy trailer, spiced up with Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. This trailer clearly highlights the funky theme of the movie- bad guys on a mission to save the world! The trailer was so damn good, that many people were disappointed by the movie.
10 Cloverfield Lane
A happy-lively start and totally unpredictable after that. The trailer keeps you guessing and wondering what the movie is about? This is why it hooks you so well. In the end, you get a shocker and leaves you curious about, what’s going on? What did she see? What will happen next? Bingo! A well-crafted trailer.
Blair Witch-“The Woods”
This teaser trailer starts with a sweet voice singing Police’s “Every Breath You Take” and a few quotes from critics about a horror movie. So, while you enjoy looking at the beautiful scenery, deep inside you wait desperately for the horror to unfold. No matter how the movie turned out to be, the trailer really did a great job.
La La Land
The fascinating sound of the whistle and the music from piano add to the beautiful start to this teaser trailer. Nothing said and still, you can feel the romance and chemistry of the two charming actors. The video is both, musical and magical. But wait, did you notice they did not tell you about the story? So, you have to watch it to know it!
